Mudeford sandbank, the most expensive beach huts in the UK?

Accross the water from Mudeford Quay is Mudeford Quay sandbank.

The sandbank is small sand spit on the mouth of the solent – with views over Christchurch and over to the Isle of Wight.

For those looking for a slightly different beach experience Mudeford sandbank has a lot to offer – for a start it’s accessible only via the ferry (a short 5 min trip from the quay) or via a small trainline connecting the spit to the mainland at Hennigsbury head. The lack of cars adds to the seclusion of the sandbank which features it’s own restaraunt (with a fairly lively menu) overlooking the bay (with a beautiful views at dusk) and shop.

The beach is a little rockier than other Dorset beaches but the views are stunning and the shallow slope of the beach means that it’s safe for the children. There are toilets on the spit and the quay can be used for carparking before catching the ferry.

However it’s the Huts that grab the headlines. Actually to call them a hut is misleading – beach chalets would be more apporpriate – with many of the huts decorated to a fine (and pretty) standard figures can get into the six figure category. Rentals are available for those without the large wallet (expect to pay around £400 per week more here at beach-huts.com). You can sleep in the huts during the summer months and with the fine views and breakfast serving restaraunt the sandbank can represent more than just a day trip but can turn into a holiday in it’s own right.
